Betty Leigh Babson Pearce, 71, of Roanoke Rapids died Monday, November 28, 2011.

She was born January 10, 1940 in Bristol, VA to the late John Dorsey Babson and Gwendolyn Leola Palmer Babson. Betty was also preceded in death by her brother, Ogden Sintel Babson. She was a 1958 graduate of Roseboro High School in Roseboro, NC. Betty graduated in 1963 from Rex Hospital School of Nursing and in 1985 from Saint Leo College in Saint Leo, FL. She was a registered nurse and served as a Church Health Minister. Betty was a member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Roanoke Rapids and a former member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Lincoln, NE and St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in DeLand, FL.

Betty is survived by her husband, Robert Gaston ''Bob'' Pearce, Jr., whom she married August 31, 1963; her son, Robert Gaston Pearce, III, and his wife, Jill Catherine Thomson Pearce; her granddaughter, Lydia LeighAnn Pearce; her grandson, Robert Gaston Pearce, IV, all of Lincoln, NE; her niece, Sandra Ruth Babson; and her nephew, John Allen Babson, both of Columbia, SC.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Roanoke Rapids with the Rev. Dr. Marjorie Holm, Rev. Beverly Huck, Rev. Duncan Jones and Rev. Joe Sandoval officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church parish house.
